Ernie Gilbert

Ernie Gilbert is a Los Angeles based filmmaker. He loves biscuits but prefers unsweet tea, a mix of growing up in both New York and North Carolina. As a result he doesn’t have much of an accent, he thinks.
Ernie started touring with bands in the mid 2000’s, peak Warped Tour era. Armed with a Mini-DV camera he crafted documentaries for bands like Bayside, Sullivan and Underoath and led a student television show of live concerts. This opened doors for music videos and a transition to Los Angeles where Ernie continued to punch above his weight class by approaching projects holistically. He’s a constant student of new tech and new ways of doing things. His short films include Nine Minutes, featuring Constance Wu and Reggie Watts, which premiered on DUST, and Easy 8, with Byron Bowers and David Rysdahl, longlisted in YDA 1.4's short film competition. In the commercial realm, Ernie has directed campaigns for brands like American Eagle, Dr. Pepper, and Dunkin' Donuts. His music industry contributions encompass dozens of music videos, documentaries, live concerts and BTS content. Notably, directing Childish Gambino’s Coachella intro video. Ernie currently resides in Los Angeles, where he aims to continue finding new ways to craft visually arresting work that resonates emotionally with audiences. When he’s not working, you can find him at Proof Bakery enjoying what he firmly believes are the best croissants in the city, or spending time with his partner Gina, their cat Nando, and their dog Gus.
