JAMI is a directing duo based in Los Angeles. Their unique voice spans narrative, music videos, short films, and commercials. This diverse and multi-hyphenate partnership is made up by Jamar Harding and Naomi Christie.
Jamar was born in Barbados, where he spent the first 16 years of his life immersed in Bajan culture. From an early age he formed a distinct obsession with film and music. At the age of 17 he moved to London with his band “Cover Drive”. Jamar maintains that the most exciting part of being in a successful band wasn’t HAVING A #1 RECORD or playing in front of 85,000 people at Wembley stadium, but the process of creating music videos. Jamar has gone on to directing and editing music videos for chart topping artists, while also creating short films and commercials.
Naomi Christie is a Vietnamese-American Los Angeles based director, writer, and photographer. She began her career in fashion photography and music videos. In 2021, she went on to study narrative filmmaking and earned her MFA in directing at the American Film Institute (AFI). Her thesis film earned her a DGA award for Best Director in the Asian American category. Naomi enjoys creating emotive imagery and subverting genre expectations.
This duo possesses a deep understanding of their fortes in the craft that elevates their work beyond ordinary creative partnerships. But what really sets them apart is their boundless mindset - they see possibilities where others see limits.
